Dimensional Stability of Products
Minimal Expansion when ThermaBrick® Refrigerant Bricks are frozen.
Will not change shape during freezing- thawing or transit. Our passive refrigerants are used throughout the world by multiple pharmaceutical packaging companies where reliability and efficiency are top priorities. Our Temprecision® Foam and ThermaBrick® Refrigerant Bricks perform up to the industry standards and commonly exceed our customers expectations for passive temperature control. At Temprecision International our focus is on consistent quality of our products while delivering solutions our customers use to make their packaging designs the most reliable and efficient in their given market.
ThermaBrick® Refrigerant Bricks used as a passive cooling element in single use temperature controlled shippers, hold comparable dimensional stability to fluid filled rigid plastic bottles. Both Thermabrick® Refrigerant Bricks and fluid filled plastic bottles used in the comparison below were subjected to the same freezer chamber.
ThermaBrick® Refrigerant Bricks
The measured width of the ThermaBrick® Refrigerant Bricks expanded on average by 0.138 inches (just over 1/8 of an inch).
The measured thickness of the ThermaBrick® Refrigerant Bricks expanded on average by 0.150 inches (just over 1/8 of an inch) with a standard deviation of 0.06 inches.
Since the fluid inside of the bricks is allowed to expand in 3 dimensions, the frozen ThermaBrick® Refrigerant Bricks expansion is uniform in the measured width and thickness dimensions.
Plastic Bottle
The measured width of the plastic bottle shrank on average by 0.01 inches.
The measured thickness of the plastic bottle expanded on average by 0.168 inches.
The fluid inside of the fluid filled bottle is constrained in the width dimension. This forces the bottle expansion to expand almost exclusively in the thickness dimension. The expansion force created a slight bump or hump on the surface of the bottles.
